Celebrating Excellence in Journalism at the Newsmaker of the Year Awards 2026

Event Wizards was honoured to contribute to the prestigious Newsmaker of the Year Awards, hosted by the CSIR in collaboration with the National Press Club and UNISA. The event celebrated outstanding achievements in journalism and the individuals whose stories help shape and inform society.

Inspired by the power of storytelling and the written word, we developed a décor concept that incorporated pages from books and printed text beneath glass underplates and throughout the table settings. Paired with elegant floral arrangements, greenery, and warm ambient lighting, the design created a sophisticated atmosphere that reflected the essence of the awards.

A custom magazine-inspired photo opportunity added an interactive element to the evening, allowing guests to capture memorable moments while reinforcing the event theme.

The result was a cohesive and meaningful event experience that honoured excellence in journalism while demonstrating how thoughtful design can help tell a story. We were proud to be part of an evening dedicated to recognising some of South Africa’s most influential voices in media.
